On August 9, 2024, Sthapana Charitable Trust Odisha organized the BANDE ODISHA program at Jayadev Bhawan Auditorium, Bhubaneswar. The event celebrated Odisha’s rich heritage and honored its great patriots, leaders, writers, and freedom fighters. Distinguished dignitaries, including Chief Guest Sj. Manmohan Samal (State President, BJP Odisha), Hon’ble Minister Sri Suryabanshi Suraj, and Retd. Lt. General Dr. Narayan Mahanty presided over the event. Highlights included the launch of the BANDE ODISHA theme song by Sri Dilip Rout Ray, featuring vocals by Sri Satyajit Pradhan, and speeches emphasizing cultural pride, sustainable development, and unity among Odisha’s youth.
The program honored notable individuals with awards such as the Odia Ashmita Samman to Sri Debendra Nath Dash and the Kala Ratna Samman to Sri Debendra Barik. Cultural performances showcased Odisha’s artistic richness, including Paika Nrutya, Odissi dance by Guru Suresh Khuntia, and Sambalpuri folk dance by Guru Gangadhar and troupe. The Trust also felicitated prominent organizations promoting Odisha’s traditions, including Loka Shastrakala Parishad and Subarna Nari Jagaran Kendra. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Vice Chairman Sri Siba Prasad Mishra, marking a resounding success in fostering pride and unity in Odisha’s heritage and future aspirations.
The “Bande Odisha” program is envisioned to pay tribute to the rich heritage of Odisha, celebrating the lives and contributions of its great patriots, leaders, writers, and freedom fighters. This initiative aims to rekindle the spirit of Odia culture, history, and patriotism, fostering a sense of pride and unity among the people of Odisha.
The objective of the program is to revive the essence and warmth of the rich culture and heritage of Odisha among its people and fellow residents from all parts of the country.
1. Honor and Remember: To honour the contributions of Odisha’s eminent personalities in various fields such as politics, literature, social reform, and freedom struggle.
2. Creation of awareness on National Security among the youth and public.
3. Educate and Inspire: To educate the younger generation about the rich history and legacy of Odisha, inspiring them to carry forward the values and vision of their forebears.
4. Cultural Revival: To revive and promote the cultural heritage of Odisha through various artistic and literary forms.
5. Community Engagement: To engage the community in a collective effort to celebrate and preserve Odisha’s legacy.
Target audience:
The program aims to spread awareness among all the residents of the state and sensitize people about the State’s rich culture and heritage. Through this program we aim for:
● Students and Youth: To inspire the younger generation & public with the tales of courage, wisdom, and dedication of Odisha’s icons.
● Scholars and Historians: To engage academicians in research and discussions about the historical and cultural contributions of Odisha’s notable figures.
● Public: To foster a sense of pride and unity among the citizens of Odisha.
Implementation plan:
The program is implemented in collaboration with various stakeholders with support from district officials, State government, institutions, dignitaries, artists, and non-profit organizations.
The implementation plan can be categorized in the following four major components:
● Partnerships: Collaborate with educational institutions, cultural organizations, and government bodies for effective program implementation.
● Funding and Sponsorship: Seek funding from government grants, private sponsors, and philanthropic organizations to support the program’s activities.
● Promotion and Outreach: Use traditional and digital media to promote the program and reach a wide audience. Engage local communities through workshops and interactive sessions.
● Monitoring and Evaluation: Establish a framework to monitor the progress and impact of the program, ensuring it meets its objectives effectively.
The BANDE ODISHA program outcome is intangible as our aim is to heighten awareness and stimulate the patronizing feeling among the people towards the rich heritage and culture of Odisha. The broad outcomes expected from this program are:
● Increased Awareness: Enhanced public knowledge and appreciation of Odisha’s historical and cultural legacy.
● Youth Engagement: Greater involvement of the youth in cultural and historical activities, fostering a sense of pride and identity and to work towards National Security.
● Cultural Preservation: Revival and preservation of traditional Odia cultural forms and practices.
● Community Cohesion: Strengthened community bonds through collective celebration and recognition of Odisha’s heritage.
