AMA MATI RA KALA is a visionary initiative dedicated to discovering and celebrating the hidden talents of Odisha, a state renowned for its diverse and profound cultural heritage. This program is crafted with the dual purpose of showcasing these talents and preserving endangered art forms that are integral to our cultural legacy. Odisha, a treasure trove of traditional arts and crafts, boasts a cultural richness that is both vast and unique. However, many of these art forms face the threat of extinction, challenged by the rapid forces of modernization and globalization.
The inaugural event of Ama Mati Ra Kala paid tribute to the illustrious sons of the soil—freedom fighters and social reformers—who devoted their lives to protecting Odisha’s cultural, social, and historical heritage. Dr. Jyotiprakash Panigrahi, Hon’ble Minister of Culture and Tourism, Odisha, inaugurated the event in the presence of an enthusiastic gathering of cultural enthusiasts and artists adorned in traditional attire. The occasion was a heartfelt homage to Odisha’s legacy, drawing a large number of cultural patrons and artists united by their reverence for this remarkable heritage.
“AMA MATIRA KALA” is not just a cultural program; it is a movement that seeks to reconnect the people of Odisha with their roots. It aims to foster a sense of pride in our cultural identity and to inspire the younger generation to embrace and preserve the artistic traditions of their forefathers. By doing so, we hope to breathe new life into the dying art forms and ensure that the cultural wealth of Odisha continues to thrive for generations to come.
